Odyssey really solved the issues I had in 3D World, where the camera was in a fixed position in 3D World.
The first thing I want to talk about is the camera. The 3D World soundtrack seemed more of a typical calm and light-hearted journey, while the Odyssey soundtrack held adventure in it.Ĭontrols-wise, it's mainly based on preference, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the ability to use motion controls. Of course, you can obviously bring in the Nintendo Switch factor which means you could bring it around, but that's an entirely different story.Īs for soundtrack, Odyssey seems to be favoured by many over the 3D World soundtrack, and they even have an official iTunes release of "Jump Up, Super Star!" which is very popular. If you want a game to occupy your time, go for Odyssey. Really, if you want a real challenge, I would go for 3D World. However, the gameplay in Odyssey tends to become too easy and also boring at times, and there are some puzzles within each stage that are simply too cryptic, in comparison to 3D World where it's straight-forward, just difficult. I didn't entirely like 3D World, simply because it was literally just the same as 3D Land with extra features and multiplayer. Super Mario 3D World took everything on a linear scale like 3D Land, while Super Mario Odyssey took everything on an open-world scale, similar to 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, and Galaxy 2. Even when they're in the same series, these two games hold huge contrast to each other, with virtually everything being different.
